★ Meet Janet Hernández

A Leader Rooted in Community,
Advocacy & Smart Growth

Janet Hernández is a dedicated community advocate, public servant, and professional with a strong passion for education, civic engagement, and community empowerment. Born in Stuart, Florida, and raised in Indiantown, Florida, Janet has spent years serving her community through leadership, advocacy, and public service initiatives. Known for her integrity and independence, Janet firmly believes that leadership should serve the people — not special interests — and that she is “not for sale.”

Her commitment to service and advocacy led her to run for office in January 2018, where she successfully earned a seat on the Village of Indiantown’s first-ever Village Council and was sworn into office in March 2018. During her time on the Council, she focused on smart growth, youth advocacy, education, and ensuring the voices of residents were represented in local government.

After an unsuccessful reelection campaign that was heavily impacted by misinformation, Janet chose to focus on personal and professional growth through higher education. Determined to continue serving her community with greater knowledge and leadership skills, she earned her Master’s Degree in Public Administration in December 2025.

Professionally, Janet has extensive experience in office administration, bookkeeping, customer service, and community relations. She currently works as a Case Assistant for a law firm, where she assists clients through important legal processes with professionalism, compassion, and attention to detail.

Janet remains active in advocacy efforts across Florida and continues to engage in conversations surrounding education, affordable healthcare, immigration reform, responsible development, and government accountability. Outside of her professional and advocacy work, she enjoys dancing, reading novels, traveling, and spending quality time with her family, especially her nieces.
